I'd move to Savannah to be close to Maxwell's (Urbanspoon)

Okay, so that's not the only reason I want to move to Savannah, but this restaurant is just one more reason! Each dish we had was very nicely plated and delicious. We had wanted the banana-nutella cheesecake for dessert, but it wasn't available so we ordered the peach cheesecake instead. I braced myself for an overly sweet mouthful of peach (as in peach pie) that I expected, but was pleasantly surprised that it was a subtle flavoring of peach. I split the cheesecake with my husband, but I could have eaten the whole slice myself. Stay away from the over-priced tourist traps on River Street and come to Maxwell's instead.

Maxwell’s is a cozier, intimate dining establishment, with a knowledgeable staff forwine recommendations and gourmet treats like Escabeche and Wagyu Beef Carpaccio with a soy-ginger marinade.

Just ate at Mawells. Best place in Savannah!! Been here all week, and not one restaraunt came close. The owners, and wait staff were wonderful, the food was outrageous. Make sure you eat here if in Savannah, truly the best!!!

I threw a surprise birthday party this past weekend at Maxwell's with 16 guests. Let me tell you this place is wonderful! The owners truly care, the waitresses and bar staff know how to take care of you and the chef rocks! Everyone was local and so we know Savannah restaurants - and EVERYONE was just blown away with the food, the drinks, the setting, ambiance and the service! This little gem of a place is truly special. Don't miss the delicious avocado rolls, tuna salad, beet salad, waygu beef, peach cheesecake (made especially for them by FORM) the chef James (formally from Garibaldi's) is amazing and delivers outstanding dishes, packed with so much flavor and the presentation is beautiful.
Hands down this is now my favorite place to eat and drink in Savannah - can't wait to come back again and again and again!

Visiting Savannah, my son treated me to a fabulous meal at Maxwell's. I loved our spot up front near the Christmas tree. I was sceptical at first about sitting at the high tables, but it was quite enjoyable and gave us a great street view. The service here was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. We shared the Seared Tuna Tataki as an appetizer which was very yummy and may have been my son's favorite. Then we had the Classic Caesar salads. Mine was most likely the best Caesar I have ever tasted! For an entree I had one of the specials, a duck breast with some kind of dried cherry reduction sauce over a wonderful risotto. This dish was was out of this world!!! I could not believe the incredible range of complimentary flavors that were popping in my mouth. Chef James is a genius! My son had the Stuffed Waygu Beef which was stuffed with goat cheese and arugula. OMG...so tender and again an incredible blend of flavors. Great place for an amazing meal! I highly recommend Maxwell's!

This dining gem, located on a small side street (Jefferson) in downtown Savannah, was the best stop for us for dinner. The food was superb, atmosphere romantic, staff attentive, drinks great! We throughly enjoyed our visit and will go back again when we return to this southern hospitable dining experience. Chef came out to greet us and spoke of our choices for eating. Wonderful time. You will not go wrong stopping by here.

Had an excellent lunch with friends at Maxwell's. The "drunken" tomatos were a hit as an appetizer-little Romas with vodka and salt, sort of a deconstructed Bloody Mary. I had the Cuban sandwich which was a full size meal in itself. The Crab Cake was quite popular and everyone cleaned their plates that ordered that. Chicken breast sandwich rounded out the orders and that was another impressive meal in size and taste. Dessert- white chocolate panna cotta for me and it was delicious!
They have a special menu Thursdays-Saturday for dinner and I look forward to going back and trying it with my husband. The Sunday night "comfort food" offerings sound intriguing.

The hotel deskclerk directed us to a place for burgers and salads, but, in the rain we never got there. Passing Maxwell's we looked at each other and said, "let's go in." We were not disappointed. This little gem is tucked away on Jefferson Street and offers up not just really good food but entertainment as well. We were not only entertained by the "piano-man" but by one of the bar guest who was enjoying the evening by dancing with his lady and singing freely as the music invited.

Dress is as you like, there were two couples who'd just come from a formal function at one table, a mixed dressed group at the bar, and we two "drowned" rats coming in off the street in shorts, shirts and sneakers (typical train cloths-AMTRAK).

Went to Maxwells on Friday night. Had the weekend special, veal with a pepper cream sauce with risotto and a wonderful cabernet. The food was by far the best I've experienced in Savannah in a long time. Our server was very attentive and really made us feel special. They have live music on the weekends, a nice gentleman that plays piano and sings. He is really good and plays a variety of songs that everyone can enjoy. After dinner we sat over at the bar and enjoyed cocktails for a while. In all our total experience deserved no less than 5 stars! Thanks Maxwells for making our night out a memory we will cherish for a long time!
